Protection (Posted on 8/31/10)I have had this product for a month. When the battery is turned on I I get a full charge. Just a solution I needed for my iPhone. I've used it on a flight from LA to DC, it took 20min to fully charge my iPhone. Perfect back up solution and full protection for the iPhone

Protection (Posted on 8/17/10)First, the case is fantastic. The ability to connect the battery or have the complete case without it (essentially two cases in one) are fantastic.
Second, the battery is great as well (once I got a working one) it essentially doubles the run time for the phone. I also like the ability to turn the battery charging on and off as it has occasionally caused me issues with charging.
That takes me to the issue:
The issue I have experienced is that when I am charging the phone it definately has affected the phone signal somewhat. The wierd thing is it doesn't always do it. But I can be in the same place have full signal simply turn on the battery pack and within seconds be searching for service. However sometimes it doesn't do this.
Personally I think its a problem with the IPHONE design. At least with this case it does work some of the time with the battery turned on. With every other battery pack I have had (and with multiple IPHONE 3G phones) I've never been able to find a battery back that didn't do this and all the others I tried were much worse.

Called Ivyskin and they took care of the problem by sending me replacement Batteries.

I have had this case since it first came out and have bought one extra battery pack " Not the case " just to have another battery back to charge. no complaints here.

Protection (Posted on 5/20/10)I love my iPhone and use it constantly. The one downside has been the limited battery life when I'm using it for calls or running applications.
I was using a Duracell DR7000LI to help extend the time before I'd have to plug back in, but the attached cable and battery made it clumsy to move about and kept getting tangled
I purchased the SmartCase since it was the only one in the market that covered the screen with a touch through screen. I hate those bubbly film protectors and resist to use them on my beautiful iPhone's screen.
The package is impressive... It's attractive and I didn't have to resort to heavy machinary to open it. There are two separate pieces which i also appreciate. The package comes with a Quattro-T4 case as a separate unit and battery pack in another package. The nice thing about this solution is that you can have the battery separated from the case and use it only when needed. This means you'll have a full protection and slim Quattro-T4 case with an optional battery just in case.
I'm impressed with the ease of installation. The phone just slips in and it's a few seconds to attach the top of the case. The workmanship seems good and the iPhone fits into the case like a glove. Since the case with the battery, it's a bit heavier than the phone and somewhat longer and thicker too. I was a little apprehensive at first, but it still fits into my jeans pocket and is much easier to pull out than my older rubber case. The case has soft silky finish to it but it doesn't feel like rubber and sure doesn't act like one. It does not attract any lint nor stick to you pocket
When the iphone is almost out of juice, i just press the on/off switch and turn on the battery pack. It give it almost a full charge. So if you're on the go and need an extra juice immediately, this is the solution. Once again, the great thing about this case is when you're done charging the phone, you remove the battery pack and insert the slim back piece into place and the case becomes a super slim guard for the iphone.
The phone's buttons are protected from accidental pressing (much better than my rubber case) and there's a small switch on the bottom of the unit that allows you to turn the external battery off when you don't want to use it. There's also a set of 5 lights that are activated with a small button. When you turn on the unit, they pulsate from right to left and when the unit is off, you can press them for a quick second, the show exactly how much battery power is remaining.
Charging the unit's pretty simple, you attach the included micro USB cable to the case and it charges the phone and case battery while the phone syncs with your computer.
I'm very happy with my purchase. I'll probably get one for my girl.

It also has a raised edge around the screen to protect it if it lands face down on the ground. The glass screen does not hinder sensitivity. The battery pack works like a charger. You turn it on when the iPhone needs an extra juice. This is an ideal case for the iPhone 3GS

Protection (Posted on 3/25/10)I like the fact that I don't have to charge my phone everyday or sometimes every other day. It is great to have that extra batter life. I like the way it is made. My only suggestion is that the battery capacity be more. I brought mine 2 months ago and will buy another one when this one dies out. I got mine in black that was the only color they had at the time. You can sync with the charger and don't have to take your phone out of the case to do it. Buy it if you travel, talk on the phone or play on the iPhone a lot, it is a good product.

Protection (Posted on 3/11/10)This battery case is a great product, in all aspects. It performs as expected. The battery keeps a full charge and I turn it on when needed to be used to charge my dead iPhone when I'm traveling and need an extra juice. What I really like about it is, I can remove the battery extension when I don't need it and just use the SmartCase as a slim case which I wasnt able to do with my Mophie. Also Mophie didnt cover the screen but Smartcase does.

Protection (Posted on 3/1/10)As a user of the SmartCase for several weeks now I can share my thoughts and leave some questions for Ivyskin.
My wife and I have 3GS IPhone's and had tried several cases prior to the SmartCase. My wife (still) uses a clear snap-on polycarbonate case, whilst I used a leather pouch (and a silicon back cover) with a film screen protector. We carried a Kensington battery charger.
I had been interested in the Ivyskin Smartcase but it was not available in Australia. Having moved to the US, I managed to buy a Smartcase in Feb 2010.
In Brief: Fantastic case, adequate extra battery for the size, some minor issues.
Details:
Fitting: I initially had great troubles getting the phone to sit properly inside the case - the volume button was being pushed continuously, and taking the phone out was almost impossible (the tight fit of the case with hard edges combined with the slippery surface of the phone meant I spent over 10 min trying to get the phone out). TIP -> Thankfully I realized that you could stick some wide stickytape to the back of the phone to pull it out with no difficulties!!). After fiddling around (the mute button was best turned off) I eventually found that it all just seemed to fit properly and I now have no troubles at all.
Finish: I have had no troubles with the finish rubbing off from my (black) case. I carry the phone in a jacket / jeans pocket all the time. There is a small scratch in the finish from an impact - but it would have scratched the phone had the case not been on.
Battery Life: I gather that the battery provides about 90% of a full charge of a 3GS battery
I previously used to need to charge the Iphone each night or I would run out half way through the next day (a few 3G calls, some games, WiFi at night, backlight on low, reading & music for 1hr on train)
Now I manage to go 3-5 days before needing to charge the phone.
Screen sensitivity - The ultimate compliment is that I am totally unable to tell that the SmartCase has an additional glass screen except for glare. Sometimes there is a glare. But it is just as sensitive as the iPhone's screen.
Buttons: All work fine (after the initial trouble mentioned above with the volume buttons).
The camera and headphone connectors work well. I have noted my GPS is out by 150m NE(both in absolute terms and compared to my wifes phone) but have not been bothered to remove the SmartCase to see if it has anything to do with the case (I use a Garmin GPS when I REALLY dont want to get lost).
Questions:
I cannot quite work out what the light system on the back indicates. There are three settings.
1) Off
2)Constant bars (1-5) with one flashing - which I presume is the 'degree of charge' indicator. The battery seems to charge in this mode, but the phone does not (phone says "Charging is not supported with this accessory")
3) Moving/scrolling lights - This seems to have two settings - a fast scroll when connected to USB power and a slower one when not. The phone seems to charge in this mode, but the battery does not. I thought that it meant the battery was in use, but they still display even when the battery is not on the phone.
I can't quite workout how you charge both phone AND battery, but looking at the FAQ's seems to suggest that the battery should be off (lights off??).
I have noticed that sometimes the battery shows 'full charge' but isnt actually charged (it lasts much less time than it should). This is difficult to assess as to cause and I hope it is not a problem with the battery itself.
Occasionally I have had the phone do odd things when the case is connected to USB charging and the phone self powers down (timeout). It has hung on a few occasions, but a manual (3sec power) turn off seems to fix the problem. It is very rare.
Note: A reader asked about Syncing the phone - you don't seem to be able to sync the phone via the mini-USB connector that you power the battery with. You need to remove the battery and use the normal Iphone connecter to sync with the computer (on a Win PC anyway). Having just typed that, I notice on my work computer that it is recognising the iphone is connected (but I dont have ITunes).
I will have to retry this at home.
So - am I happy. Yes - the case is superb, with a great form factor and non slippery case. It is (now) easy to remove (not that I would want to), and removing the battery is easy when syncing the phone with the computer. I do not find that the extra size of the case and battery is an issue (actually it fits my hand better - I have large hands).
I would happily buy it again.
QUESTIONS:
Could Ivyskin post detailed information about charging and the lights on the case - specifically what happens in each of the 3 modes when you connect it to power.
Also, what do the lights show when the battery is full? (does the last light always blink)
Also a comment about Syncing would be good - the answer about Syncing (for Paul on 2/2/10) talks about charging and NOT about syncing. i.e. can you sync with ITunes via the USB. If so, how?

so peeps ditch them rubbish cases and get this rolls royce of iphone cases silky smooth and rock hard : ) and glass so no manky plastic screen err stickers

Protection (Posted on 2/5/10)I'm a gadget guy, and have tried to find the best case for my iPhone. This by far surpasses all other cases, I've bought otterbox, mjuice, iskin just to name a few. The first thing is the case protects the entire phone. Even the touch screen is protected not with a flimsy screen protector either its a small glass protector. Now the addition of the battery pack, just makes the case 500% better. You get to use your phone all day with not too much added bulkiness or weight. I highly recommend purchasing both the quattro T-4 and the battery pack. I can't wait for the belt clip for the smart case.

Full protection plus a slick design back up battery pack. It has an on/off switch that becomes useful so you turn it on when you need it and it has a built-in charger which is also nice.
I no longer have to worry about losing my battery by checking emails or going on the internet.
